At Halsford Park, we want every child to enjoy sport, develop their skills and have opportunities to take part in competitions.

Throughout the year, children compete in activities such as football, cricket, netball, athletics and tag rugby as part of their PE lessons. They also represent their house/colour on Sports Day in the summer term.

We also take part in competitions and festivals with other schools. Working with East Grinstead School Sports, local sports clubs and neighbouring schools helps us offer a wide range of well-organised local events. We are both fortunate and pleased to be part of this collaborative group, which was formed in 2026 to continue providing sporting opportunities as school sport funding changes.

For events involving other schools, we first ask children whether they would like to take part. Where places are limited, we select participants according to the event’s format and requirements, including any relevant skills or experience. We aim to inform parents and carers at least a week before an event.

Details of forthcoming events are updated each term on the school website, so parents and carers can see what opportunities are coming up and encourage their child to volunteer.

Alongside these opportunities, we provide high-quality PE lessons throughout the year so that all children can build confidence, learn new skills and enjoy being active.
