We are an inclusive school. We actively seek to remove any barriers to learning and participation to ensure all children can do their absolute best.
Equality of Opportunity must be a reality for our children. This means we adapt to allow all children the same opportunity wherever possible. This spans a wide continuum from having a wheelchair to move around or a special cushion to provide sensory feedback and so aid concentration, to using a pencil grip to assist handwriting or extra time with an adult to discuss emotional difficulties.
We believe all children are different and have different needs, which is why support is planned on an individual basis.

The Inclusion team is a team of professionals who work within school. They meet together in school on a weekly basis. The team plan for children who need extra support due to a variety of factors such as Social and Emotional needs, Cognition and Learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, Speech and Language Difficulties, Medical Issues, English as an Additional Language, and Behavioural Needs. The Inclusion team review support provided within school and when necessary, make referrals to outside agencies such as our school nurse or speech and language therapist.

We are delighted to have achieved the Autism Awareness award, moving up from bronze to silver level, demonstrating the achievement of consistency of good support across the school.
The following strengths were identified:
We are already working on our next steps to make sure we get gold next time!
We were delighted to welcome moderators for the West Sussex Dyslexia and Dyscalculia Inclusive Practice award to the school in December 2023. Moderators said ‘it was really lovely to visit your school and see the excellent practice you have in place’.
We prepared for this award by training all staff in recognising dyslexia and dyscalculia and developing skills in supporting learners with traits of dyslexia and dyscalculia. Our pupil voice A-team completed classroom audits to make suggestions to ensure our classrooms and environments are dyslexia friendly which teachers have embedded in their practice. We are very proud of the provision we offer to all of our learners and were thrilled to be recognised with this award and to receive such positive feedback praising our processes and provision, putting each child at the centre of the learning.
The Inclusion and A team are now working reaccreditation of the Autism Awareness Award – we’ll keep you updated on our progress!
Sometimes, talking to people who share similar experiences toyours means you’re more likely to feel understood and get thesupport you need.
